Airport meeting and transfer to your hotel

Our driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Please look for a poster with VA110 note. If you still didn’t send me the copy of your electronic ticket, I kindly ask to do that, so we have complete information about your arrival.

Opening of the conference

The opening and the first day of sessions of the conference will be held in National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, 24, Marshall Baghramian Ave., 0019 Yerevan, Armenia.


First day (September 17) transfer from Byurakan to Yerevan

If you stay in Byurakan, the Observatory bus will drive you to Yerevan from Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory bus stop (please, check the location under the following link: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1i_J-3TCEEYGiU0XEufTGm0wVOLnUb_hI&usp=sharing) on Monday morning, September 17th at 8:30.


Third (September 19) and fourth (September 20) days transfer from Yerevan to Byurakan

If you stay in Yerevan, the Observatory bus will drive you to Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory from National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. Please check the time of transfers of those days in the program of the conference.


Information for speakers

-- We will provide a laptop running Windows with Microsoft Office, as well as Acrobat Reader. For anything else, please bring your own laptop.

-- We remind you that invited talks should not be longer than 30 minutes including questions and contributed talks should not be longer than 20 minutes including questions.

-- To save a time, please send us your presentation at the following E-mail address: anahit.sam@gmail.com, or you can also give it to us with memory stick 2 hours before your presentation, so we can test it on our computer to avoid possible problems. If you are going to present your presentation with your own laptop, please send us your presentation in "pdf" format so we can put it on our webpage.


Posters

Due to limited space, please make sure that your poster is “A0 size” and in “portrait orientation”. In case you do not want to trouble yourself with printing, you may simply send us your poster (in PDF format) till September 13th in order to be printed locally and hung up in the room for you. The price of this service is 10 Euro and you can pay for it in cash during the registration. If you do not want to use this service, please find your poster code in the program of the conference for hanging up it in the right place.


Food

We will have the food for you in the Observatory Canteen. If you have any food requirements, or any allergies, please, let me know in advance. You will need to pay 2,3,3 Euro for breakfast, lunch and dinner accordingly.


Banquet

The conference banquet will be organized at the tavern of Amberd hotel, which is located on the beautiful slope of Aragats mountain and has breathtaking view on Ararat mountain.
The banquet will cost 30 Euro.


Excursions

There are two options of excursions. We are sorry, the third option (Karahunj) is not available because of not enough registered participants. You can choose one of the options during the registration.

Time zone

Armenia is in the UTC+4:00 time zone (the time difference with Central European time is +2 hours during the summer time period and +3 hours during the winter time period).


Climate

Armenia is mostly a sunny country with hot summers and cold winters. Its climate ranges from dry subtropical to cold weather. The average temperature in the hottest months July and August is +36°C (max), +17°C (min) and in the coldest month January is -2°C (max) and -9°C (min).
We will have pleasant days during the school. The daytime average temperature will fluctuate between +22-+26°C, and we will have +11-+15°C temperature during the nights. You may anticipate dry (an average 45% humidity is expected) and warm weather. Rare light rains may be expected. You can take light jackets for evenings, as the daily temperature amplitude is large.


Local Currency

The Armenian currency is called Dram (Armenian Dram, AMD), and all payments (hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops, transport, etc.) are accepted only in AMD. Paper notes are issued in denominations of 1.000, 5.000, 10.000, 20.000, 50.000 and 100.000 AMD. Coins replace all banknotes less than 1.000 Dram (there are 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500). You can check the exchange rate at http://www.rates.am/en/.
You may easily change EUR, USD, GBP, RUB, and other international currencies to Armenian Drams in any bank or exchange offices. ATM machines in Yerevan function in accordance with the Plus Global Access Network, Visa, and MasterCard systems. There is also an ATM machine in Byurakan, approximately 1.5 km away from the Observatory to the uphill direction (Byurakan Municipality building).


Public transport

You can get to city Yerevan from Byurakan by public transport (400 AMD) on fixed hours. The last bus from Byurakan is at 18:30. Օr you can inform us in advance and we will order a taxi for you to the center of city Yerevan (about 4000 AMD). There are many taxis, which you can take to get to Byurakan from Yerevan, BUT before making use of their services, please check the service price (not much than 5000 AMD).


Electric plugs

Electric plugs in Armenia are like European ones (with two round pins). Both thin (Southern Europe) and thick (Northern Europe) ones are in use. Standard voltage in Armenia is 220V (AC) and the frequency is 50Hz.
